Banke: The Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City has announced a three-day closure of schools due to the extreme heat wave affecting the area. The maximum temperature in Nepalgunj has soared above 42 degrees Celsius, prompting the decision to protect students from the severe weather conditions.

Gorkha Bahadur Thapa, Under Secretary of the Education, Youths and Sports Division of the Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City, confirmed that the holiday will commence on Wednesday and end on Friday. Additionally, there is a nationwide public holiday on Tuesday in celebration of Republic Day. Consequently, students will return to school on June 2 after a five-day break, which includes the Republic Day and the regular Saturday holiday.

The extreme heat has significantly impacted daily life in the Banke district, causing disruptions and necessitating measures to ensure the safety and well-being of the community, especially schoolchildren.
